5by5 | The Big Web Show #158: Old Men Shake Fists at the Cloud – with Jim Coudal
An awesome episode with Jim Coudal, co-founder of Field Notes, and Jeffrey Zeldman, on “the death of blogging, the birth of Field Notes, the virtues of a subscription model, and much more.”
Recording coffee roast data – a new analogue option – Pete Denison
Oh, I didn’t know 33 Books Co. also makes 33 Roasts! I’ve used 33 Cups of Coffee in the past and found it helpful because it was all pre-formatted. So I enjoyed reading about Pete’s use of both analog and digital tools for his home roasting and how the format of 33 Roasts could help him. And it’s always interesting to see how notebooks are used in areas I have no experience in. Sidenote: they also make 33 Doughnuts... Uh oh.

Traveler's Notebook envy! Another great post from Jenny on her current set-up, what’s been working, what didn’t, etc.
Ink Brand Profile: New Monteverde Inks — The Gentleman Stationer
I’m getting more and more into fountain pen inks, so this was a very informative overview of Monteverde inks. And as a fan of brown and gray colors, Moonstone is looking very tempting.
Pencils in Literature: Winnie-the-Pooh | CW Pencil Enterprise
Winnie the Pooh is my spirit animal! I don’t remember this specific part from the book, about a Special Pencil Case, but this really warmed my heart to read. Now I want to own a “BB” pencil, so I can refer to it as a Brave Bear pencil.
Traces of graphite – Oriana Fenwick - Bleistift
An interview I enjoyed reading, by Matthias of Oriana Fenwick, whose illustrations I loved in The Pencil Perfect.

Chicago PEN SHOW 2017. – murberdraws
Murberdraws, who’s well known on Instagram among fountain pen enthusiasts, started a blog, and this is her write-up of the Chicago Pen Show. I think she’s off to a great start!

2017SUMMER NEW COLLECTION | マスキングテープ「mt」- masking tape -
I really don’t need any more washi tapes, but the new one with goldfish design is too charming to resist.
Things I tried recently (and liked)
I’ve mentioned this on my Instagram but I’ve been trying lots of Nagasawa Kobe inks and having fun swatching them. No. 15 (Maiko Green), no. 40 (Sumiyoshi Brown), no. 44 (Sumaura Seaside Blue), and no. 46 (Nagisa Museum Gray) are my favorites so far. And I picked up a ring of word cards at Maido on a whim (by Kutsuwa; pictured at the top) for a couple bucks, and found that they’re decent for color-swatching. I don’t know how they compare to other options though, because I’ve only been using Bristol vellum cards. Now I have two sets of swatches going. Oops.
